Resin Bound Stone stars in “Ugly House to Lovely House” on Channel 4
A Challenging Makeover
On a road where the owners themselves admitted their home was “definitely the ugliest house in the street,” the team from Channel 4’s Ugly House to Lovely House faced a significant challenge. Their mission? Transform a 1960s property into a home worth falling in love with. As part of the renovation, we had the pleasure of installing a resin bound stone driveway to enhance the home’s new look.
Meet the Homeowners
Wendy and Allan purchased their two-storey home in Colchester two years earlier for £650,000. With a £150,000 budget for the transformation, they soon realized they had a long way to go to make their vision a reality.
An Ambitious Architectural Plan
Award-winning architect Chris Dyson, known for transforming neglected properties into stunning homes, took on the project. He created a bold plan that would radically alter the home’s appearance, moving away from its block-of-flats look to a more welcoming and stylish design.
The new look included:
- A spectacular double-height gallery
- A centralized front entrance for a grander aesthetic
- A modernized façade to bring the house into the 21st century
While the couple had initially planned a radical redesign of the garden, they decided to postpone landscaping to focus on the house itself. However, one key feature remained – the resin bound stone driveway.
The Resin Bound Stone Driveway – A Standout Feature
The couple agreed that the new driveway was an essential part of the transformation. Installed by Resin Driveways R Us, the surface provided a seamless, durable, and attractive entrance to their newly remodeled home.
Even series presenter George Clarke was impressed, exclaiming during the final reveal:
“I love the driveway – brilliant!”
A Grateful Thanks
We would like to thank everyone involved in the project for making us feel so welcome. It was a pleasure to be part of such an amazing transformation, and we wish Wendy and Allan many happy years in their beautifully renovated home.
