Resin Bound Surfaces – Groundworks & Installation

Full construction of any building project can be an ordeal, managing different contractors, booking materials to arrive on time and trying to cope with all the hassle. We offer a full, complete service, from a front lawn to a finished driveway, all undertaken by our in house teams of qualified tradesmen. From breaking ground to cleaning the pavement or road before we leave, we look after everything so you don’t have the worry, just enjoy your new drive.

1. The Resin Driveways R Us team arrive and undertake a team briefing where the project is discussed to flag up any potential hazards such as water mains, site access and the methods of work.

2. The area is marked up, and cordoned off if required before the ground is excavated to an adequate depth. This is then compacted using a tamper plate machine. Once flat, level and compact a substrate layer of MOT Type 1 (a mix of fine and coarse aggregate) is laid and compacted over several layers to ensure the substrate is properly compact and solid. After, a porous monolithic binder is layered and rolled level.

3. Specialist dried aggregate is coated with a high strength – polyurethane resin in a forced action mixer for a specific time to ensure every piece of aggregate is evenly coated, giving our resin bound stone guaranteed strength and rigidity.

4. The resin bound stone is then troweled, by hand, to a depth of 18mm or above to a seamless, perfect finish.

From start to finish we undertake all aspects of the work, understanding that communication is key, giving daily update reports, and working with you to truly make your home look extra special. Just a couple of days is all it takes to change a high maintenance garden into a beautiful yet practical driveway that will add so much to your property.
Plus, who doesn’t like watching hard work anyway!

Our unique system of combining outstanding attractiveness and creativity with practicality and sustainability enables us to accommodate all of your permeable resin bound paving needs.

POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • Can resin bound surfacing be laid on my existing surface?

In order for reliability the base would need to have the same lifespan as your new resin bound surface. A new base is preferable.

  • Is the stone natural or man made?

We always use all natural stones with our resin bound surfacing installations. This is to ensure that you get a natural look for your project. The main types of stone used are gravel, quartz, flint, granite and bauxite. It is also possible to use stone that has been artificially coloured (pigmented). This means that logos can be replicated to an exact colour to match the original.

  • Is the resin bound surface strong enough for vehicles?

Because of the hardness of the stone used, and the way the mixture is formulated, the surface can be used by vehicles. If the resin bound surfacing is for a path, a softer aggregate can be used, such as marble.

  • What will happen to resin bound surfacing during extreme weather?

Since our resin bound surfacing has cavitation within the mixture, water will run through the surface and back into the ground. This stops water from pooling on the surface, which can lead to a freezing problem. During times of extreme heat the resin bound surface will remain cooler than asphalt or concrete, due to the cavitation allowing air to circulate through it.
